Video - 8Ball & MJG - "DJ Bring It Back" (feat. Young Dro)
How's your Monday going? Good? Well it should be getting close to quittin' time for those of you at the j, or maybe you woke up from a nap if you're in college (or unemployed). In any event, press play and patiently wait on the next post.
Don't even think about watching this at work. Just wait for the next post. And I'm pretty sure Killa meant to spell 'Tocarra'. And don't click that either.
This is just what most aspiring rappers feel + my honest, personal struggles getting put to verse over Kanye's "Say You Will" (or Drake's "Say What's Real").
The track will by on my "The Hunger" mixtape which is a little unique because I'll be releasing two versions; a Nigerian/U.K. version that drops at the end of this month and features a combination of traditional hiphop and afrobeat, AND a U.S. version that drops at the end of April and features a combination of hiphop/spokenword/r&b.
To give you a taste of what's on the Nigerian/U.K. version I've also included the Nigerian remix to Timbaland and Drake's "Say Something" that is getting alot of buzz and plays on Nigerian radio/blogs right now
Rock with this track right here, y'all. The homey Yung Brodee has a nice, meaningful track right here.
Determined to avoid the dangerous realities of LA gangbangin', Yung Brodee speaks on behalf of the youth that take a stance against violence. Initially inspired by the deaths and incarceration of his childhood friends, "The Good Die Young," is dedicated to Derrion Albert of Chicago, Haiti, Chile and many others who are gone too soon. First single off of the album 100 Percent Authentic dropping in April. Shot in Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles.
Video - K-Beta - DTLR (Down The Line Rhyme) feat. Diamond District ("Inglorious Beta" Studio Session)
K-Beta and Diamond District collaboration produced by Kev Brown and with scratches by DMV's #1 DJ, DJ Alizay. This banger can only be found on K-Beta's debut album Inglorious Beta. Inglorious Beta drops on April 1 exclusively on DJBooth.net.
You already know what it is with Devin and if you don't then I advise you to wake up or move around. Catch this joint on Devin's Welcome To Suite #420 EP available on iTunes tomorrow.
Video - Lloyd Banks - "Beamer, Benz Or Bentley" (feat. Juelz Santana) + Joell Ortiz - "Nissan, Honda, Chevy" (feat. Jim Jones)
Say what you want, but this joint is my ish. Unfortunately, I have neither a Beamer, Benz or Bentley at this time so I have to roll with Joell's joint instead.
...Nissan, Honda, Chevy...my gas tank's almost empty...
The production team known as DASECA is setting out to revolutionize the dancehall. Their newest riddim entitled "Genesis" will be released March 23rd, however it won't be released in the manner that riddims are currently being distributed:
"What has become the norm for Jamaican producers is to literally give away the music as soon as it is finished. Email blasts, social networking sites, blogs etc. ensure the music ends up in the hands of any and everyone who wants it, and they don't have to pay for it. So while it creates a hype and give artists hit songs and generates shows and dub plate income for them, the producer has to pretty much wait on the few remaining labels who deal with Reggae to license a song here or there for a compilation. Whereas in the past labels would take the whole riddim from a producer, that has stopped because of poor sales and because our music has never been marketed properly causing it to end up in a mire. Producers are needed in the business just as much as artists so we have to find a way to survive." - David Harrisingh of DASECA
"While we are realistic about the numbers we expect to do, we have to take a stance and try and regulate our ting. We are also expecting it to leak as soon as it is available, perhaps even before, but for us this is about trying to make a difference. We hope every producer takes a look at what we are trying to achieve and does something about it too so we can help change the culture of how we market and sell our music, because we are all feeling it. Thats why we called the riddim Genesis, because for us and we hope for the business as a whole, it signals a new beginning." - Craig Harrisingh of DASECA
The riddim has already been premiered on New York City's Hot 97 and has also had radio premiers over British and Jamaican airwaves. "Genesis" will be available online (iTunes, Amazon, Zune, Verizon ringtones, etc.) March 23rd. Peep the clips for a preview of "Genesis."
On the day that Baby's baby checked into the pen, Clifford Harris re-emerges from prison and drops this joint for the masses. Not a massive smash, but it'll do the trick. Cliff sends shots at all the doubters and haters who thought his reign at the top would be on leprechaun status. Tsk, tsk and woe to the doubters who are now lined up to face the verbal AK spray courtesy of T.I.P.
I keep telling y'all that new Wu-Tang is good for the soul, but you might want to ear muff it for this one. This is something you're more likely to hear Ghostface spit, but Rae goes into the X-rated chamber for this one.
Fresh from the tweets of Phonte is a new Little Brother joints. As a side note, I hope all of the Hall of Justus crew are healing up fine after their recent accident. This Khrysis produced joint is off of LB's next and last album...enjoy while you can...
