Do y'all sense a theme today? This interview is little old, as Ghost talks about not having a release date set for Wizard Of Poetry (September 29), but he gets into his label situation, his relationship with the Clan, the Budden nonsense, and more.
Video - Raekwon Talks About "House Of Flying Daggers" and Caribana
Chef Raekwon is up north in Canada for Caribana and got caught on a break to talk about that awesome likkle party dem have and also to talk about this new J Dilla produced joint that he, Ghost, Deck and Meth destroyed. And for your listening pleasure, here is the dirty version of "House Of Flying Daggers."
I'm goin' in on this *ahem* advance copy of the Slaughterhouse album. Consider this a live blog of my listening experience.
2:21 PM - "Pachiao of the Philippines" is murking this track and the beat has a nice, triumphant feel to it. Did y'all know that he liked his H's on the side?
2:23 PM - Joey's double time flow is more like 1.5 times...
2:25 PM - "Lyrical Murders" has a nice dark sounding beat...Crooked and Royce start the track off nicely.
2:26 PM - Here goes Joey...there goes Joey. Joell Ortiz "the instrumental hitman" caps it off. It's an ok track...I'd say it was Royce > Crooked > Joell > Joey on this one.
2:31 PM - Yikes, Crooked is hungry on this one...I don't recommend he feed his hunger with his boasts of cooch eating, but to each his own.
2:32 PM - Joell kept up the fierceness...Joey with a subtle dart at Jay-Z - "too many Blueprints, not enough architects". Track 3 and he finally woke up.
2:35 PM - "Not Tonight" is ok...Crooked is MVP so far of this team.
2:37 PM - We've heard "The One" already. Nice track. Want some visuals?
2:41 PM - A skit...where Joe Budden is "pausing" constantly. *delete*
2:42 PM - "Cuckoo"...Another joint that we've heard recently. Not feelin' the hook.
2:45 PM - A line about menstrual relations...cuckoo indeed.
2:47 PM - Another skit.
2:48 PM - Ok, Royce on "Onslaught 2"...nice. This beat from Emile goes hard.
2:49 PM - Dare I say this is the best track thus far?
2:51 PM - OK, Joe murked this one. We'll go back to this one later.
2:52 PM - Momentum dead because of another skit.
2:53 PM - "Salute" is a slow marcher...Pharaohe Monch on the hook...side note - did Nino Bless start off in this crew or is that just my imagination?
2:57 PM - "Pray (It's A Shame)"...I'm guessing this is the introspective joint. Bring back the afro, Joell.
3:01 PM - My internet signal went out because of the rain out here. Awesome. That track was a snoozer.
3:02 PM - Mr. Porter lightens things up with his production on "Cut You Loose." I don't know who's the MVP at this point now...I guess I'll stick with Crooked I.
3:03 PM - "Nowadays the rewind button got mad dust on it" - ain't that the truth, Joell?
3:05 PM - Slaughterhouse's "I Used To Love H.E.R." is cool...Joey tells Meth that he can "have that bitch" but I don't think that will spark anything else up.
3:07 PM - Novel swoops through to lend a helping hand on "Rain Drops." Speaking of rain, it's messing with my signal again. Shouts to U-Verse.
3:08 PM - And the signal continues to stay dead...Crooked I comes through again. I'll go ahead and crown him king of this group.
3:11 PM - The vibe on this is like the vibe on the "Pray" song except executed 10 times better.
3:12 PM - And it goes right into "Killaz." I dig the dark vibe of this Emile produced track.
They should have threw "Move On" as a bonus track or something. What happened to "Woodstock" (or whatever the name got changed to)? Oh well. I don't know what expectations I had for this album, but after a listen it appears there's more to be desired. Knowing how my attention span has evolved (or devolved), I doubt if I'll remember this album by Monday. I give this album a 3 out of 5.
Raekwon f/Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah & Method Man - "House Of Flying Daggers"
New post for the better quality version. Like I told khal last night, this is that robbery/stomp someone out music. If you're into that sort of thing. Dilla blessed Rae with a nice donut right here. Link swiped from NR.
Yo Houston, you see that crowd response? When Ghost, Meth and Red come to town next weekend...if you act like a bunch of chumps the last time Meth and Red were here...then yo...kill ya selves one by one.
Fabolous "Bang Bang": Here's the iTunes Loso's Way bonus track. So, if you caught the leak like 3 weeks ago, all you really need to buy is this... oh wait...
Drake ft. Saukrates "The Search" (prod. by Rich Kidd): I got a feeling that, while this track is new to us, this ain't new. I don't imagine Drake rapping over anything this, um, good for his album.
On a side note, my wife finally heard and saw the "Best I Ever Had" video. Her consensus? "Hated it!" And why I hear someone said Drake looks like a panda bear? *DEAD*
Raekwon f/Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah & Method Man - "House Of Flying Daggers"

Ohhhhh shiznittlebam...Alex wasn't lying and came through with a Wu Banger! Rae, Deck, Ghost, Meth...on a wicked Dilla beat? Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2...throw your W's up!
Check khal's views of the track as well as his thoughts on the hype behind OB4CL2. And you have to check this ill interview that Angela Yee did with Rae and Snoop (The Wire).
Amerie & DJ Ruckus - What Cha Know About Amerie Mixtape

I'm glad he came out and said something about the video. Did girls really think Drake was on some romantic ish when he made the song? Did girls even listen to all of the lyrics or just the chorus? And guys...why were you mad at the video?
Here it is again just because I feel like reposting:
Raekwon stops by the Nopisemakers Session hosted by NYC Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg to take about the history of the Wu-Tang Clan.
This clip is Raekwon casually performing snippets from the seminal classic 'Only Built For Cuban Links'
On September 8th 2009 Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 will hit the stores
In other Raekwon related news, Alex had this to say a little while ago:
The word out of Raekwon's camp is that the new single will be dropping today on Hot97 with FunkMaster Flex. I have yet to confirm this, but giving you all a heads up just incase.
And here's Rae ripping stages in Boston and Jones Beach:
The Morning After With Angela Yee featuring Ghostface Killah
This is hilarious. Just listen to the wisdom of Ghost...he talks about his upcoming Wizard Of Poetry album, his past projects and his current label situation, male and female relations, how he gave the "Wu-Tang" name to RZA, and much more. Link swiped from NR.
DeeJayVRS "Freak Me A Like": VRS' latest blend pairs Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me" with Shabba Ranks' "Ting-A-Ling", which is a classic in my book. This works really well, especially for those of you who loved listening to the radio in the mid 90s and would hear both of these cuts pon di regular!
Nicolay ft. Carlitta Durand "Lose Your Way": Here's the first single from Nicolay's forthcoming City Lights Vol. 2: Shibuya, which drops on Foreign Exchange Music/HBD on the 15th of September. A bit of a different style, but fans of Nicolay should be able to dig into this one.
DeeJayVRS "Niggaz Nuh Linga": I had been hearing Cipha Sounds drop this on the Hot 97 Morning Show, and mentioned it on twitter a few weeks back - for some reason, niggas probably didn't believe me. This takes Elephant Man's "Nuh Linga" and drops the classic "Down 4 My Niggaz" beat underneath... WHAT?!?! Ciph dropped it AGAIN this morning, and DeeJayVRS finally let it be known that this was his blend. Nice rework, fam!

Bounty talks about how the fans have to stop the violence against each other (Gully vs. Gaza, Kartel vs. Mavado, etc.) and also talks about the upcoming Fully Loaded show. Via Alliancefilife.
In this interview, we speak on whther OBFCL2 is done or is he still tweaking the project.
He confirms that vocally the album is done. He speaks to me about how Busta Rhymes introduced J-Dilla to Rae and thats how “House Of Flying Daggers” came about.
Raekwon also speaks on the album and the mature sound it has as well as producing on OBFCL2.
Another day, another track from Jay. I decided to compile a mix of tracks that have floated around since Jay-Z announced his impending Blueprint 3 album. I fully realize that the majority of these tunes won't make the final cut. Either way, check this mix and follow the progression of songs released and see if you're still amped for the album droppin' on 9/11/09.
Dead Presidents 3 When The Money Goes Ain't I Jockin' Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh) Swagger Like Us f/Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & T.I. Brooklyn (We Go Hard) f/Santigold History D.O.A. (Death Of Autotune) Run This Town f/Rihanna & Kanye West You're Welcome f/Mary J. Blige
Jay-Z ft. Rihanna & Kanye West "Run This Town": Here's the new Hov single from Blueprint 3, which premiered about a half hour ago on Hot 97 (check my live-blog for my thoughts on the whole ordeal). Not a bad track at all, although it didn't blow me away like "D.O.A." did. I have a feeling this will be all over the radio, complete with some epic video...
My favorite line is from 'Ye: "gotta ass that'll swallow up a g-string/and on top? two bee stings"... LMFAO.
Savana - "I See You" + "26 Police" featuring Junior Reid
Savana is a Jamaican artist from Spanish Town, Jamaica now based in the UK. His upcoming album Life Ah Foreign will be in stores soon and features Leona Lewis and Lumidee. Shouts to my peoples in Spanish Town and the whole of JA.
The homey Matt at MAC Media hit me with info on Skyzoo's long-awaited album. Not a lot of features on this one, which is probably a great thing.

Trae Day was supposed to be a fun event to celebrate helping out the Houston community and for the most part, it was...until some punks decided they wanted to try and harm people. Rizoh made it out there and here's his account:
The showcase went relatively well, but a party ain’t a part until some douchebag decides to shoot up the spot. The crazy thing is that I had just pulled out of the parking lot when shots started ringing. It sounded like fireworks were raining in the parking lot. The entire TSU campus place erupted in chaos as people scampered for safety.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. - 30 minutes after Trae announced to the crowd that the Fire Marshal had shut down Trae Day - roughly ten to 15 shots were fired in the TSU stadium parking lot. We'll take a guess and say it was some sort of automatic weapon - the shots seemed to come in rapid succession - but we're basing that guess on our own knowledge of gunshot sounds, culled mostly from Steven Seagal movies, so take from that what you will.
There were still numerous people around when it happened, most running for cover as soon as they realized what was going on. An ambulance was seen shortly after bullying its way through the snarl of traffic heading away from the scene, lights and horns blaring.
"He's depressed. It was none of his people. Trae's camp was not involved in any way. It was some dumb kids not affiliated with him at all," Trae's publicist Nancy Byron told Rocks Off at 10 p.m. Wednesday. "He feels like it was a black eye on what was an otherwise positive community-driven event. Somebody tries to do something positive..."
According to unconfirmed reports from Fox 26 News, as many as five people were shot at multiple locations around the TSU campus. Any injuries or fatalities were unclear at the moment. We'll keep you posted as updates roll in.
Shouts to Trae for bringing positivity to the Houston community and curses to those who tried to spoil his event. And my best wishes go out to those who were harmed in those shootings.
khal is all brand new and stuff....got him a new Guilty Simpson/Madlib joint and stuff...bang this while you're on your tricycle.
The charisma that Detroit’s heavy hitting MC Guilty Simpson and the Los Angeles based Beat Konducta Madlib share is undeniable. A string of songs going back to Guilty’s first appearance on wax (Jaylib’s “Strapped”) testify to a musical kinship that is rare in today’s rapper-as-an-accessory marketplace. To us, Guilty over a Madlib beat is like hearing Guru over Premier circa Daily Operation, or CL over Pete around the time they recorded “Straighten It Out.” Some times, a rapper and a producer just work well together.
The two together making OJ Simpson, Madlib (Otis Jackson) and Guilty Simpson. OJ Simpson is the name of the album. No, you won’t hear Guilty make any references to bloody gloves. No, you won’t catch Madlib driving a bronco. These are some 14 hard hitting, straight from the gutter hip hop tracks featuring Guilty’s inimitable baritone and a couple guest appearances (Elzhi, Strong Arm Steady). Some cuts by J.Rocc. And a whole bunch of attitude. This is one of our favorite projects in a while.
We’re releasing this teaser single – the title track and the needs-nothing-more-than-the-title verbal onslaight that is “Coroner’s Music” - to remind you of the hip hop you’ve missed. The album drops this fall.

The 24 song tracklisting floating around is LEGIT (in terms of song titles/producers and guest appearances). They are still cutting out some songs and arranging the order. 24 tracks is too deep.
The single "House of Flying Daggers" will debut on the Funk Master Flex show next week.

Fabolous ft. Drake "Throw It In The Bag (Remix)" (prod. by Shatek): DJ Envy dropped this on Hot 97 a little under an hour ago. I imagine the skirts will be all over this. New beat, same old "it ain't trickin' if you got it" ethos.
Joey comes through with the apology/warning to Method Man and the Wu-Tang Clan. Stop and the bickering and collab for a dope posse cut. Miss Info confirmed (tweet, tweet) that peace talks took place and a truce is in place.
Thanks for the beats, rhymes, and life Tay, Pooh and 9th.
